WELCOME TO OPEN HEART ORPHANAGE MINISTRY

OPEN HEART ORPHANAGE MINISTRY was formed by Ugandans as a local community-based non profit organization, a response for meeting the physical and spiritual needs of the growing number of children orphaned by the AIDS epidemic and needy. Who never had any opportunity for education and the school drop outs in our society who would go no were. The organization is a faith-based organization of Born again Pentecostal christians.

OBJECTIVES:

  • To provide housing, food, clothing, give basic education and medical assistance to Orphans and street children; whose parents are widows, either poor or abandoned.
  • To see the less privileged (orphans, AIDS orphans etc) going back to school, getting food and shelter and knowing God. Sports development- raise awareness of sporting disciplines and impart skills to individuals and communities.
  • To promote Destitute Children's for self –employment among youth through vocational training, tailoring, Hair dressing.

  • To start a vocational school for woodwork and computer training that will enable the centre first to train the needy/orphaned and to generate income to meet some of its expenditure and sustain itself.

  • To build a school that will serve the orphaned/needy children in the community.

  • To establish medical facilities and provide treatment to the needy.

  • To promote HIV/AIDs awareness among all members of our community.

  • To mobilize, develop and apply available resources to promote the objectives of the Organization.      AIM          The main aim of the orphanage is to create a comfortable, conducive environment and dependable alternative family life and peaceful home for the orphans and other socially disadvantaged children in the Society.
  • BACK GROUND:

Our Community has a long time been experiencing many difficulties as a results of our past Dictatorship governments were many innocent citizens killed because of political and tribal reasons from early eighties we have been experiencing the results up to now many children were left homeless (living on the streets) it is amazing according to the last population census we help in Uganda were we have thirty millions Ugandans 18 millions were orphans of all kinds.

according to our cultural back ground we some time does not give much attention to educating our kids no investment there for kids education although NRM Government took power it has tried to sensitize Ugandans on the importance of education in this modern generation. Were other countries talk of computers the computers in Uganda are found only in Big towns and very few.

In our District mityana you find that we have a population 40000 but 80% are below 18 years there still in the schooling age with few schools and those exists charge lot of fees that has caused 28000 of children in the schooling age to live without education those schools that seem to charge low fees their day schools not boarding one it is only for the able parents and families who are able to provide to their kids feeding and accommodation  of which the needy and orphaned living on the streets cannot afford.

OPEN HEART ORPHANAGE has come up with a vision to create an orphanage were kids of many kinds irrespective of their tribe, religion background they can come and get free education mainly the orphans who cannot go no were. The orphanage is running on five rented acres of land were we have our temporary structures. and the garden that supports us with some food stuffs on that same land. Each month we do pay one hundred thousands shillings only (100000/=) which is fifty 50/us dollars.

We rent also per month the three orphanage homes were accommodate the kids at one hundred fifty thousands shillings ( 150000/=) which is seventy five 75/ us dollars each house per month. The three house costs us per month four hundred fifty thousands shillings (450000/=) which is two hundred and twenty five 225/ us dollars.

We have seven (7) paid workers at the sight of our orphanage these including four teachers and three care takers on the workers we still have more two unpaid workers our Director and technical worker (who sacrifices to help with temporary structures).

Each teachers is paid two hundred thousands shillings (200000/=) which is one hundred 100/ us dollars per month for four teachers that is eight hundred thousands shillings (800000/=) which is four hundred 400/ us dollars per month.

And each care taker is paid one hundred eighty thousands shillings (180000/=) which is ninity 90/ us dollars per month for three care takers that is five hundred forty thousands shillings (540000) which is two hundred twenty 220/ us dollars per month.

FINDINGS: the first children to be considered now is those from streets, needy orphans and from families which is severely needy.

The kids we have now are those from poorest families and orphans from streets.  Our ministry is very open to any one who can give freely to help one or more children live a better life now with provision of free education.

THE DETARMINED AMOUNT PER CHILD IN OPEN HEART NURSERY AND PRIMARY SCHOOL

we are an independent school and ministry means with no support from the government.

We determined fourteen thousands shillings (14000/=) which is 7/us dollars each month per child. This amount helps us pay our teaching staffs and care takers plus taking care of the rent monthly payments.

The challenge left untouched here is kids clothing's, shoes and blankets.

OUR NEEDS: 1. Land as we indicated we are on rented land were we need a land big enough to accommodate this project ( we have identified a land of five acres at twenty one millions shillings (21) which is ten thousand and five hundred 10500/ us dollars, this land is big enough for this project expansion).

2. Partners who can stand with us in this project in helping kids raise fourteen thousands shillings 14000/= which is 7/ us dollars per month and help us raise clothes, shoes and blankets for these kids.

3. Solar panels to help with lights.

4. Used computers to help kids learn also how to use computers and help teachers in some study lessons.

We are calling for all people of willing good heart to give in to this project.
